History

JEFFERS established their music business in 1969 when Peter Jeffers set up a retail shop based in Bandon, Co. Cork. Peter was an accomplished organist and pianist and had a vibrant interest in music. Jeffers began in the organ business as agents for the US built Conn Organs and then in 1971 became representatives for the Allen Organ Company in Ireland. In those early years Jeffers Music had an office in Belfast and a retail showroom in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin as well as their base in Bandon. In 1983 Peter’s son, David Jeffers joined the business after completing studies in electronics.

In 1987 Jeffers Music became the sole agents in Ireland for Viscount Organs. In 1994 Jeffers Music opened up a retail music shop in Cork city and this was run by David. Over time the business was consolidated back to the base in Bandon where the countywide organ business is now operated from. Today Jeffers Music concentrates their business on Viscount digital classical organs and Yamaha digital pianos.

VISCOUNT Organs are built in central Italy. The Viscount Organ manufacturing facility, Viscount International has been in existence for over half a century having being established in 1969. Previous to that the Viscount founding Galanti family manufactured accordions for many generations dating back to the 19th century. The Viscount Company is still owned and run by the Galanti family and all of the manufacturing and R&D are based in Italy. Viscount International’s business concentrates on building a range of classical digital organs incorporating the most up to date technology.
